Jelgava Regional Tourism Center receives the sign "Hiker friendly"

Active recreation and recreation in nature has recently become popular among both locals and city guests. Hiking is a great way to get to know the natural beauty of Jelgava and its surroundings, as well as to see the tourist attractions there. The number of “hiker-friendly” companies in Latvia is growing every year, thus promoting the popularity of hiking and supporting people who prefer active tourism.

A special commission of professionals positively assessed the support provided by the Jelgava Regional Tourism Center and the compliance of services with the requirements of hikers, awarding the sign “Hiker friendly”.

At the Jelgava Tourism Center, fans of active tourism can receive information and tourism materials in both Latvian and foreign languages about sightseeing places, walking and hiking routes, as well as cycling routes in the city of Jelgava, its surroundings and throughout Latvia. Every interested person will be welcomed by professional and knowledgeable tourism specialists, who will recommend the best walking places, thematic, hiking and cycling routes, as well as provide information about tourism opportunities in Jelgava and the surrounding area.

Drinking water is available at the tour desk, and you can find out about other places in the city where drinking water is available to the public. Visitors at the TIC can charge electrical devices, connect to Wi-Fi and use other necessary services. Extensive information on important services for pedestrians in both Latvian and foreign languages can also be found on Jelgava's official tourism website www.visit.jelgava.lv.

In May of this year, 53 more companies and tourism service providers received the “hiker-friendly” label, including accommodations in Hostel Sili and Alberģe Līvbērze.
