Splinter weaving workshop - Smilgumi

In the splinter weaving workshop Smilgumi you can see one of the oldest types of basket weaving – wooden splinter weaving. The opportunity is offered to take part in basket weaving demonstrations, as well as to weave your own basket in the master class.

In the workshop you can buy various splinter baskets for mushrooms, onions, garlic, household boxes, firewood baskets, bags. The workshop is also the only one in Latvia that offers splinter baskets with inscriptions, drawings and natural colours.

Working hours

Monday - Sunday 10:00 - 18:00 by prior appointment

Prices

  • Basket weaving demonstration, visit to workshop - 2.00 EUR for adults; 1.00 EUR for students (up to 12 years of age), seniors. Demonstration duration 1 hour.
  • Basket weaving master class, visit to workshop - starting from 5.00 EUR/person. Duration of the master class 2.5 hours.
