Water Tourism Routes in Zemgale and Aukštaitija

The Zemgale Planning Region, in cooperation with the partners of the WaterTour project, has developed a unique tourism map presenting the rich water tourism offer in Zemgale and Aukštaitija (Northern Lithuania). The map brings together a total of 84 routes on 24 rivers – 56 routes on 12 rivers in Zemgale and 28 routes on 12 rivers in Aukštaitija, inviting visitors to discover both well-known and less explored river routes.

The tourist map offers a wide variety of routes – from relaxing sections suitable for leisurely strolls to more exciting adventures for nature lovers and experienced boaters. Here you will find big rivers like the Daugava, the Lielupe and the Mēmele, as well as quieter rivers surrounded by wild landscapes like the Susėja, the Vircava, the Platone, and the Svēte. Each route is designed to enable the traveller to experience the closeness of nature, the scenic environment and the magic of water from a new perspective.

Routes that cross national borders – for example, boating from Lithuania to Latvia or vice versa on the Mēmele or the Mūsa – are a particular added value. Such routes offer a unique opportunity to discover the nature and cultural space of both countries in one trip.
