The Kalnciems Museum, located in the old Kalnciems medical practice house, collects and preserves evidence of the cultural history of the old Kalnciems, which tells the history of modern Valgunde and the northern part of Kalnciems parishes, as well as topics closely related to it. In the medical practice house, you can feel the atmosphere of the neighbourhood and get to know its gems – intriguing moments of the past, great local people, tales, legends, and secrets!

Our offer

Free –

visit to the exhibition at the medical practice house during specified hours (except for the Country Doctor's Office).

For a donation:

tours of the museum and the medical practice house neighbourhood;
educational programme “Country medical practice house through the ages” for people of all ages (including pupils);
the exhibition "Country Doctor's Office", where time stopped about half a century ago and even a Soviet-era dentist's chair is there

The museum exhibitions in the Doctor's House, except for the Country Doctor's Cabinet, are open during the opening hours of the Tīreļi Library:

Monday 09:00–12:00, 12:30–18:30
Tuesday 09:00–12:00, 12:30–18:30
Thursday 09:00–12:00, 12:30–19:00
Friday 09:00–12:00, 12:30–17:00

For tourist groups

Guided tours of the exhibitions and the educational lesson “Country medical practice house through the ages” by prior reservation, calling: 29915975 (Vineta); total duration of the tour and lesson approx. 40–45 min. or by arrangement with a guide.

The main exhibition rooms in the Doctor's House can host a maximum of 20 people at a time.

Additional information

The Doctor's House is easily accessible via the Riga–Liepaja main road and the Jelgava–Tīreļi highway. There is also a boat base and a dock not far from here.
